There are many paths of yoga to take us towards ourselves.
I choose to use the voice…

Nada Yoga is a well-trodden path towards self, but these classes offer a unique opportunity for you to experience contemporary Nada Yoga for the 21st Century, through the heartfelt exploration of the voice.
Our voices, the sounds we make, are deeply connected with our true nature.
Instead of using mantras, we Sound* together in an intuitive way, exploring within. In that exploration, as it develops, you are invited to be a witness to sensations, thoughts and feelings as they arise, the inner response.
As we continue, there will be an opportunity for us to explore that response together in the form of group dialogue – but only if you wish to do so. There is no must or ought.
In group dialogue there will also be the chance to explore hindrances to practice (Patanjali I-30), and how the Klesas play out within us (Patanjali II-2/3). Working with the voice, in devotion, has the function of reducing our defence mechanisms by helping to shift us out of the habitual, rational consciousness structure, into direct contact with ourselves, and thus allowing deeper contact with others. It is in that contact that learning and healing can take place.

*Sounding is not about being able to sing, it is more about using the voice to express that which is within. Singing and music may well be involved but they are not pre-requisites, and previous experience with singing or music is unnecessary. Sounding can also be seen as an expression of Bhakti Yoga, the Yoga of devotion.
